My Teaching Philosophy
I believe the journey that I've chosen as an academician is somehow predetermined. Born in the family of teachers (my parents), I was exposed to the process since my early days. During my school days, I've assisted teacher in teaching science topics. The same goes during my university life whereby I assisted several lecturers to conduct lecture sessions and coached my friends in understanding the lesson.
I believe that there is always a reason for me being here as an academician. With the given capacity and capability in delivering knowledge, I believe that I was given an important responsibility to be carried as amanah in nurturing learning culture among people, as a form of ibadah. Taking a responsibility as an academician with audiences among adult learners is not an easy task as said.
I believe that mind alone is not sufficient to be the sole source of new knowledge. Perception can never be much worth without appreciating the presence of heart and soul in understanding the reality. Both material and immaterial dimensions are vital in understanding a subject matter as a whole. One does not make sense without the presence of another.
Other principles in my teachings are:
I always use simple references and examples which I believe to be the best contributors to learners' understandings.
Sharing my own experiences in life during tutorial sessions enhances further insights into the subject matter.
Encouraging self-learning among adult learners will do great in arousing higher consciousness in lessons learned.
Learning beyond classroom in real life situations is an important essence of lifelong learning.
I believe in technology-assisted teaching as part of the learning process.
